This is the 9th year a professional squash event will be held in Richmond, It reached the elite ‘World Series’ status in 2008 and 2012 promises to be the biggest year yet. It is one of 10 major World Series level men’s Professional Squash Association (PSA) tournaments to take place around the world. It is the of the longest running and most prestigious titles in North America, and will feature the world’s best players from all over the world including Egypt, England, France, Germany, India, Brazil, Australia and Malaysia. 

The Davenport North American Open presented by Jaguar will bring in top players like the current world number one and 2008 NAO Champion, James Willstrop, from England, current number two and 2011 & 2010 NAO Champion, Nick Matthew from England, the world number three and former #1 , Greg Gaultier, from France, world number four and 2009 NAO Champion, Ramy Ashour, from Egypt, the world number five and former #1 , Karim Darwish, from Egypt and the world number seven and 4  time World Open Champion, Amr Shabana. Nine of the top ten and fifteen of the top twenty will be competing.

This is the second year in a row the tournament will be held at the Westwood Club where the first two squash courts were built in Richmond and where the Richmond Squash movement began in the sixties. It has a history of hosting professional sporting events including the first Virginia Slims Tennis Tournament. This year, the 2012 Davenport North American Open presented by Jaguar will again be broadcast live around the world on numerous TV networks and online to millions of viewers. 

ESPN3 will broadcast the semifinals and finals this year. All matches will be seen live online and followed through event partners that include US Squash, the World Squash Federation, the Professional Squash Association, Virginia Squash and many other international websites and media outlets.
